Berberick heading to Mount Union

February 13, 2007

Bellevue, OH- Bellevue Senior Derrick Berberick announced today to RedmenRumble.com that he'll be attending Mount Union and playing for the Purple Raiders next fall. Derrick was on an official visit to the school just a few weeks ago and came away very impressed with the academics and coaches. He was informed that he'll get a crack at returning punts and kickoffs his freshmen year with a bigger role to come. The staff was very impressed with his highlight video and said its one of the best they've seen. Derrick was also atop of their wish list and Vince Kehres (son of the head coach Larry Kehres) who was recruiting him was excited and surprised when Derrick gave him the news. Derrick set the Redmen record for total yards in a single game with 395 yards verse the Margaretta Polar Bears in just three quarters of action. He also set the single season rushing record (1,970) which was previously held by Russ Kuhns (1,716) who set the record back in 1997. Ending his bright career as a Redmen he was named first team All-Northern Ohio League and first team All-Ohio. Derrick will be leaving one school with a great football tradition and attending another as Coach Larry Kehres has led the Purple Raiders to 14 undefeated seasons in his twenty-one years as head coach. Kehres has a phenomenal 231-20-3 coaching record and has won the Division III National Championship eight times including this past season with former Upper Sandusky Rams quarterback Greg Micheli receiving MVP honors.

Below is a couple video clips that was sent out to recruiting cordinators. They are only part of the clips schools received as I had to cut them down in size.
